My Photo
Location: Long Beach, California, United States

We have had an open store since 1987. We've been online since 1997. We moved to our larger (about 1800 square feet) location at 5422 E. Village Road, Long Beach CA 90808 in January of 1999. Von's bought the Shopping center where our old store was located (4174 Woodruff, Lakewood, CA 90713) and was planning to tear it all down and remodel. Construction of the new Von's finished as of January 2001. They didn't remodel our site after all. The move seems to have been for the best, as the new location has been much better for us. The New(er) Location has a Genuine Vault, leftover from when the building was a Jewelry Store in the 40's. It is now the depository of our 1st Editions and Collectibles. We have a large selection of both Paperback and Hardback books (somewhere in the neighborhood of 35,000+ items). We have a wide selection of books with no topics excluded. We have a large collection of Signed Books and Military Books. Our staff is fairly knowledgeable in the fields of Military, Mystery, SF, Fantasy, Romance & more. Visit our site Once Read Books if you have any questions, comments, or want any more info.

Crowley and Aziraphale's New Year's resolutions

Crowley and Aziraphale's New Year's resolutions

Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman present New Year's resolutions of the demon Crowley and the angelic Aziraphale — characters in their collaborative novel, Good Omens.

Resolution #4: I will try to be nicer to the customers. They want to buy books; I want to sell them. It can't be that hard. (Memo to self: Regular opening hours? Mark prices on books?)

Resolution #6: Find out exactly what an "Internet" is.

Biography for $1

About 10 boxes, mostly Hollywood bio's were sent to the $1.00 table today. There are even a few signed books in there.
As usual for our $1 specials they only stay on the table 1 week! If they don't sell by then they get recycled. There are more of these than will fit on the table so there will be some around for the next few weeks but no longer than that.

M-Bag - returned from Germany

Got an M-Bag returned from Germany. I'm amazed anything survives.
This was a brand new box, packed firmly with foam, the magazines set inside got a fair corner bump.

I'm actually pretty surprized it was returned at all.
